Carbon Credit Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV)

Make project evidence traceable. Prepare for qualified review with confidence.

AIGreen Plus can help Malaysian manufacturers define project and monitoring boundaries, assemble activity evidence, document calculation choices and prepare a review-ready MRV pack. The work is a scoped consultancy engagement: it does not issue credits, replace an independent validation or verification body, or promise acceptance by a programme.

WHAT DOES THIS CONSULTANCY OUTLINE COVER?

This service helps a manufacturer organise measurement, reporting and verification evidence for a defined carbon project or credit-related claim. We map sources, activity data, assumptions, monitoring records and version control, then reconcile exceptions with the client team. Outputs are a documented evidence register, calculation and reporting pack, and readiness actions for an appropriately qualified external reviewer. Client owners approve boundaries, factors, claims and submissions.

02 / FIVE REVIEW STAGES

Five steps, with an accountable owner.

Evidence, assumptions and open questions move through a human review route. No certification or automatic conclusion is implied.

  1. 01

    Scope and boundaries

    Define project and monitoring perimeter

Confirm project activity, reporting period, ownership, intended programme and excluded sources with the client.

OWNER / CONTROLClient sponsor / consultant; authorised owner approves scope
  2. 02

    Data and evidence map

    Connect sources to measurable activity

Inventory meters, fuel logs, production records, supplier notes, factors and supporting documents with provenance.

OWNER / CONTROLClient data owners; consultant coordinates evidence register
  3. 03

    Calculation and reporting

    Reconcile methods and reporting fields

Document units, assumptions, equations, factors and version history, then reconcile totals and exceptions.

OWNER / CONTROLConsultant prepares; qualified client reviewer checks method
  4. 04

    Readiness review

    Test traceability before external review

Run a bounded completeness and consistency review and separate open issues from verified evidence.

OWNER / CONTROLQualified reviewer / client approver; no independent assurance implied
  5. 05

    Handover and actions

    Leave an owned evidence routine

Deliver the MRV pack, issue log and next-cycle checklist for client signoff and any external verifier.

OWNER / CONTROLClient accountable owner accepts handover

If a check fails: Hold the record for its owner, correct the source and preserve the approved manual fallback.

03 / RESPONSIBILITIES

Organise the work. Keep conclusions with people.

The proposed support can structure records and questions; responsible owners still assess evidence, applicability and decisions.

Unclear boundaries

Make the perimeter explicit

Facilitate a documented project boundary, period, source map and exclusions so later reviewers can see what the figures do and do not cover.

Evidence scattered

Create a traceable evidence chain

Link activity records and supporting documents to reporting lines, owners and follow-up status without inventing missing data.

Method uncertainty

Expose assumptions early

Record units, calculation logic, factor sources and version changes for client and qualified reviewer discussion.

Review surprises

Turn gaps into owned actions

Prioritise open evidence and control actions before an external validation or verification engagement, without promising acceptance.

04 / HONEST HYPOTHETICAL FIGURES

Show the working behind a planning example.

These figures are modest arithmetic for discussion, not customer evidence, forecasts, emissions claims, payroll promises or guaranteed outcomes.

HYPOTHETICAL WORKED EXAMPLE / NOT CUSTOMER RESULTS
REPETITIVE ADMIN EFFORT33.3%less labour time per one source-record reconciliation batch for a reporting period

90 → 60 combined labour minutes for the same task.

TIME CAPACITY12.0hours / month released

See assumptions and calculations
MeasureIllustrative calculationMeaning and limit
Labour effort(90 − 60) ÷ 90 × 100 = 33.3%Same workload and expected review quality; includes ongoing exception checks as scoped.
Time capacity(90 − 60) × 24 ÷ 60 = 12.0 hoursReleased time is not payroll savings or guaranteed job reduction.
Admin checks(12 − 5) ÷ 100 = 7.0 percentage points; 58.3% relativeSeparate hypothetical like-for-like administrative check on 100 entries; the figures illustrate a measurement approach and are not a quality, environmental or assurance guarantee.

Hypothetical same-workload comparison: a client team spends 90 minutes gathering, checking and documenting one batch; a proposed structured pack reduces routine compilation to 60 minutes. Both figures include consultant/client review and exception effort; they are not a benchmark, headcount reduction or payroll saving.

Scenario figures are illustrative arithmetic, not benchmarks, forecasts, actual customer results or guarantees. Measure a like-for-like pilot with the same definitions before making a claim.

06 / BEFORE YOU INVEST

Inputs, boundaries and ownership should be clear.

These lists are a starting point. Final scope, access, professional responsibility and outputs require written agreement.

STARTING INPUTS

What to prepare

  • Approved project description, boundary map and reporting-period dates from the client sponsor
  • Meter, fuel, production, waste or other activity records from named operational data owners
  • Methodology, emission-factor and calculation references selected or approved by the client and qualified reviewer
  • Monitoring logs, calibration or maintenance evidence and supplier documents where relevant
  • Intended programme, claim, registry or customer-reporting requirements supplied by the accountable sustainability owner
SCOPE / CONTROL

What to agree in writing

  • This is consultancy and proposed digital assistance, not installed software, credit issuance, accredited assurance or a substitute for an independent validation/verification body.
  • The client remains responsible for truthful source data, boundary and methodology approval, claims, submissions and retention; applicability to a programme or reporting period needs qualified advice.
  • Use least-necessary approved or anonymised data. Access, confidentiality, retention, transfer, security controls and any system interface require written agreement; no personal data is needed for the sample dashboard.
  • Illustrative figures are fictional administrative scenarios and dashboard inputs. They are not measured emissions, carbon savings, credit volumes, market prices, certification results or guarantees.
  • Legal, tax, regulatory, registry and accounting determinations remain outside scope; external reviewers, programme owners and authorised client signatories make their own decisions.
PROPOSED DATA STRUCTURE / STATIC REFERENCE ONLY

Make activity, units and evidence easy to check.

Project records use an agreed project boundary, methodology, baseline scenario, monitoring plan and evidence period. A project estimate is not automatically a verified credit, an issued unit or an organisational inventory result.

Project method and monitoring first

Proposed fields: project/site, methodology/version, baseline and project scenario, monitoring parameter/unit, observation period, uncertainty, evidence source and reviewer. Eligibility, additionality, leakage, permanence and any external validation/verification depend on the applicable programme.

Proposed workbook fields — not a working form or emissions calculator
Field groupExample contents / selectionsReview check
Record identitySite/entity, reporting period, activity owner and source record IDKeep the agreed boundary and period consistent.
Activity/sourceFuel invoice, electricity meter, shipment, supplier record or process recordIdentify the evidence and whether the value is measured or estimated.
Quantity and selectable unitExamples: litres, kg, kWh, km, tonne-km or units of productChoose a unit appropriate to the method; do not interchange units without a documented conversion.
Emission factor and factor unitNumeric factor field; example unit kgCO₂e/kWh or kgCO₂e/litreNo default or approved factor is supplied here. The factor denominator must match the activity unit.
Factor provenanceSource, version/year, publication date, geography, gas/GWP basis and methodQualified reviewers approve applicability, conversion and any licensed factor data.
Evidence and reviewerDocument reference, estimation basis, data-quality flag, owner and approval statusTrace each calculation to approved records and retain unresolved exceptions.

This is an educational proposal panel, not a form, upload feature, factor database, live integration or calculated emissions result. Numerical dashboard values elsewhere are fictional; approved source data and qualified review are required for an actual engagement.

Confidence comes from traceable evidence.

Set definitions, boundaries, source ownership and review responsibility before interpreting a result. A qualified responsible person decides whether a finding is applicable.

07 / CLEAR ANSWERS

10 questions. Practical answers.

Clear answers

Frequently asked questions.

Ten practical answers about scope, sources, review and responsible use.

What does a carbon-credit MRV engagement cover?

We scope the project and period, map activity sources, organise evidence, document calculation assumptions, reconcile exceptions and prepare a review-ready reporting pack. The exact deliverables depend on the project methodology and intended programme. We do not issue credits or act as the independent verifier.

What data should a Malaysian manufacturer prepare first?

Start with the approved project description, boundary map, period, meter or fuel records, production and waste logs, supplier evidence, methodology references and existing monitoring logs. We can provide an initial data request and identify owner, unit, timestamp and provenance for each item.

Which standard or methodology will you use?

The basis is selected during discovery. Depending on scope, we may map organisational accounting to the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1, while a credit project must follow its applicable programme methodology. We do not reproduce paywalled standards or choose a programme without client approval.

Who signs off the MRV calculations and claims?

Client-authorised owners approve the boundary, source data, factors, calculations and claims. A qualified external validation or verification body may be required by a programme or buyer. AIGreen Plus’s consultancy review is readiness support, not accredited assurance or programme approval.

Does MRV readiness mean our project is certified or verified?

No. Readiness means the evidence pack and open actions have been organised for a defined review. Certification, validation, verification, registry acceptance and credit issuance are separate decisions by relevant bodies and are never promised by this service.

Are the dashboard values or time scenarios actual results?

No. Dashboard activity values and the 90-to-60-minute scenario are fictional illustrations designed to show coherent records, calculations and review effort. They are not your emissions, carbon savings, credit quantity, benchmark, headcount saving or assurance outcome.

How are confidentiality and access handled?

We use only approved or anonymised inputs needed for the agreed scope. Access roles, transfer method, retention, deletion, system connections and confidentiality terms should be written into the engagement. A qualified Malaysian adviser can review any local legal or regulatory implications; we do not promise compliance.

Can this work with our existing spreadsheets, meters or ERP?

Yes, discovery can assess exports, spreadsheets, meter files, production records and document folders without assuming an integration or installed product. We will agree an import or manual handoff format, testing, fallback and ownership. Feasibility depends on data quality and access, not on a guaranteed connector.

How long does an MRV engagement take?

Timing depends on project complexity, methodology, reporting period, source availability, client review cycles and external-review scheduling. We provide milestones after discovery rather than inventing a duration. External validation or verification timing is controlled by the selected body and programme.

What drives the quote and ongoing support boundary?

Scope is shaped by sites, sources, reporting periods, methodology, evidence condition, workshops, review cycles, languages, access controls and handover needs. We provide a written proposal rather than fabricated prices. Ongoing support, refresh cycles, licences, training and response times require separate agreement and are not assumed to be 24/7.

08 / SOURCE NOTES

Check the current public material.

These references support an initial discussion only. They do not make AIGreen Plus an accredited or certified verifier.

Public official material — not accreditation.

These official pages support the bounded distinction between organisational GHG accounting, programme-specific carbon-project MRV and independent verification. Applicability, methodology, registry rules and reporting duties must be confirmed for the organisation, project and period with the relevant programme owner and qualified advisers; this page is not legal or tax advice.

Dashboards and numerical scenarios are fictional planning examples. The services are proposed consultancy scopes, not certification, accreditation, assurance, legal advice, regulatory approval or a promise of emissions, cost, staffing, safety, quality or market outcomes.
